I’m just back from the most amazing educational visit for travel agents with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. Our 5 day schedule was a melodious mixture of scheduled learning the “Olsen” way to support your future bookings, a ship tour including different cabin and suite categories, on board activities, an excursion and free time to experience life on board Bolette as a passenger does. An authentic experience to convey to my customers – a big step above just your usual online training!
Setting off from Liverpool, Bolette transported us in absolute comfort for 2½ days to Reykjavik, Iceland. After watching dolphins, whales and puffins, we alighted here for a bucket list ticking excursion to the amazing Blue Lagoon. Then an enjoyable free afternoon in Reykjavik for a spot of sightseeing and souvenir shopping.
The packed schedule included welcome drinks and cocktail making, a business session, traditional afternoon tea, behind the scenes tour, wine tasting, Captain’s welcome cocktail party and meals in both of Bolette’s speciality dining restaurants.
Free time was spent at the hot tub, playing bingo and board games, getting increasingly thrashed in the fun quizzes, being entertained at the evening shows, having an absolute blast at the silent disco while the discombobulating midnight sun blazed down upon us, gawping at a pod of about 200 dolphins from my junior suite balcony, learning to play deck quoits and shuffleboard and so much more. But mostly the dolphins!
My only wish was that we could have remained on board with the rest of the passengers and fantastic crew for the entire itinerary around the rest of Iceland and back to Liverpool. But instead we had a perfect flight with Icelandair back to Heathrow and our normal lives. I’m still adjusting to having to make my own bed and not being presented with epic 5 course evening meals. But life must go on!
